- We make all our products at our workshops in Dorset, using only the finest, natural ingredients skillfully blended and combined with pure essential oils for a truly effective result.
- Lovegrove Essential products contain no petroleum products or mineral oils – we prefer to use nut butters, vegetable oils and essential oils.
- We use no synthetic fragrances. There is no need when the essential oils smell so wonderful.
- The colours are completely natural.
- We use no parabens, a chemical preservative for which the long-term health effects of exposure are unknown. The preservatives we use are phenoxyethanol, a naturally derived substance which gives ‘shelf life’ and has no known side effects, and grapefruit seed extract, which gives slightly less shelf life but is again naturally occurring. And of course, the amber glass or PET bottles protect the essential oils from oxidation. You can help too – keep your products in a cool place and out of direct sunlight.
- SLS or Sodium Lauryl Sulphate started its career as an industrial degreasant and garage floor cleaner and because it’s cheap, it is now used to produce foam in the majority of shampoos and toothpastes. It’s side effects are debatable, so we prefer to use a natural foaming agent made from coconuts. (And once you have used a non-foaming toothpaste, you won’t ever change back!)
- Packaging is a minefield. There are no easy answers, as we know from our work with the Turn Lyme Green campaign. So the packaging you see, either PET or glass, is the result of asking many questions of customers and our suppliers. We urge you to recycle – PET is a highly recyclable plastic and goes on to make many more items. And we offer simple capped bottles at a cheaper price so you can re-use your pump or spray.
